| | This recipe is from Dining on a Dime, page 185. Since I make it so often, I figured I'd share it with everyone.
Hamburger Casserole (or as we call it here in MN, "hotdish") 1/2 to 1 pound ground beef, browned 6 cups of macaroni, cooked (about 3 cups dry) 1 (15 ounce) can of tomato sauce 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 1/2 tsp. onion powder salt to taste 2 cups shredded cheese
In a casserole dish, mix browned ground beef with macaroni, tomato sauce, garlic and onion powders and salt. Add cheese; stir until melted. Heat in oven at 350°F for about 20 minutes. Serves 4.
*My Notes* -I use one portion of ground beef from my bulk stash. For more on how I buy my ground beef, see this post. It's down at the bottom of the post. -I'll usually throw in some fresh ground black pepper as well, and I don't usually measure out my spices, so I don't know exactly how much I use compared to what the recipe calls for. Be adventurous! This recipe is pretty flexible. -The original recipe calls for American cheese, but I usually use cheddar, and I'm guessing that mozzarella would be really good in this too. -I make this hotdish at least once every few weeks. It's quick, easy and tastes REALLY REALLY GOOD. Brian loves it. I hope you do too!
